About The Bombay Baboo

Baboo [noun]: The Hobson-Jobson, that amazing dictionary of colonial Indian English, describes the word as "In Bengal and elsewhere, among Anglo-Indians, it is often used with a slight savour of disparagement, as characterizing a superficially cultivated, but too often effeminate, Bengali"

Bombay [name]: Mythical city said to exist on the Western coast of India. Primus inter pares amongst India's other great cities by legend. Was also once called Bambai. Frequently confused with Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra.

From Calcutta, I now find myself in Bombay. This blog catalogues my explorations of the city.
